FOR NEW YOGA STUDENTS

Preparing for your first class
New students and yoga practioners of all levels are welcome to any class, any time. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. We start checking people in for class one half hour before class starts.

Please check in before proceeding to the changing room or studio.

There are mens and womens showers and private lockers for you to place your belongings, so bring a lock if you like, but doors are also locked during class. Please hang your jacket and remove your shoes before proceeding to the changing room

We understand the first time you have questions, excuses whatever, but all you need to do is pick a time and start. There are no contracts, no reservations, no special gear, and anything you may need we have to rent or purchase or borrow. BUT, to make your first class a great start here are some tips...

DRINK plenty of water before class. You will sweat a great deal in class, so prior hydration is important. Drink at least 1 liter within an hour coming to class.

Water bottles, and cold drinks are available for purchase. Try the Zico cocunut water, it is awesome!

EAT very little or nothing 1 - 3 hours before class. For most students, taking class on an empty stomach facilitates their practice. After class, try to eat a meal of vegetables, rice, and juice.

Light snacks and vitamins are available for purchase.

WEAR light, comfortable clothes - similar to what you would wear to go running in July! Shorter shorts are recommended as longer shorts can restrict movement. Men usually do not wear shirts. No socks!

We sell hot yoga wear in all sizes of mens and womens. So for your first time, don't worry just bring what you have like a swim suit and find a good fit here.

 

BRING a yoga mat, large towel and bottle of water. Rental mats ($2) and towels ($1) are also available.

We also sell the best yoga mats and towels. So just come take yoga!

NO SCENTS! It's hot and humid so please do not wear perfumes and cologones or if you are even a light smoker, please plan to shower at the studio before class. It doesn't get any hotter than this and these scents can get really intense

Be respectful

Have fun, laugh, chat before and after class. Before class begins, we encourage you to visit with other students outside and inside the studio. During class we ask that you focus on your practice and the teaching of the instructor.

What to expect from class:
Bikram’s Yoga is practiced in a room heated to 105 degrees to promote cellular metabolism, detoxification, and suppleness of the muscular system, providing a greater level of safety when doing the poses.

Each class is open to beginners; and anybody can do it – any age, size, shape, condition, or background. While accessible to beginners, Bikram’s Yoga requires that every student, no matter their level, make demands on him or herself. A Bikram’s class requires tremendous concentration, careful listening to the teacher's precise instructions, patience, determination, trust, and discipline. As these are required of you, they also develop within you.
